About our Company

For more than 90 years, we have manufactured and developed our products in the German region of Swabian Alps. Today, we are one of the last textile companies still doing business at their own production location in this area, which was once the birthplace of German textile production.

Over the last 20 years, the majority of our competitors have followed the trend that is so prevalent in the global economy. Local production facilities have been sacrificed following the principles of globalisation, and the associated jobs have been moved to Eastern Europe and Asia, where the conditions for manufacturing textiles seem to be more favourable thanks to low wages and lax environmental regulations.

There is a reason why to this day, our company has been successful at our current location and that is our philosophy and our objective. We consider doing business as the duty to increase the prosperity of a community. For only those who have work will be able to buy goods. And, only if goods are purchased will there be work. An economy who neglects this mutual effect endangers the prosperity of society in favour of a small group of profiteers.

At our company, all departments are housed under the same roof – from fabric factory to the shipping department. We consider this level of cooperation a dear commodity. This makes Trigema® a community of dedicated employees who share the common goal of successfully developing great products in order to retain qualified employees and prevent them from leaving the Swabian Alp region.

The management of our company may be an exception in today’s economic world, but our decisions are legitimised by our ongoing success. Since the early 1980s, we have created an additional 400 secure jobs. Our production facilities are constantly operating at maximum capacity. As a consequence, we have not been forced to introduce reduced working hours in over 40 years.
We enjoy and have been successful in training employees and, thereby, contributing to the education and opportunities of the younger generation. True to these principles, we offer all of our employees an apprenticeship or work position for each of their children, which guarantees us a loyal and qualified team of employees. Since 90 per cent of these employees have learned their skills under our roof, their familiarity with the requirements of our company is second to none.

Wages and work conditions
Trigema® would be merely a name were it not for the people who invest their strength and skills in creating fantastic products from great ideas. They ensure that “We are Trigema®” is more than just a slogan. Each hand nurturing the growth of our products is a part of the whole and, thereby, a fundamental factor for the quality and success of our company. For these reasons, paying fair wages and providing good work conditions to our employees is not merely a question of good morals. Fairness, justice, and humanity are the cornerstones of our society and the values that we pass on to our children, which we share amongst ourselves and based on which we make our company decisions.

Everyone working at Trigema® has been given a regular work contract. As a result, our principles when it comes to “work conditions and wages” can be summarised as follows for all members of our workforce:

- a safe and clean work environment that provides all mandatory protective equipment designed to protect man and the environment.

- fair and solid wages paid in line with the pay scale in Germany

- 100 % wage continuation

- workers’ representation by our own workers’ council

- involvement of the company’s workforce in all major decisions.

Suppliers
We prefer to cooperate with local businesses as we can put our trust in their social competence. Another advantage of relying on a local network is the ability to keep the transportation routes short within the value-added chain. We are bound by a “code of conduct” which we developed ourselves and according to which all of our business partners must engage in voluntary self-monitoring with regard to fair work conditions. This code of conduct is an integral part of all supply contracts.
In essence, the code is composed of mandatory standards applying to the following areas:

- working time regulation,

- occupational health and safety,

- terms of employment,

- non-discrimination rule,

- prohibition of child and forced labour

and comprising all core standards identified by the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

Financial autonomy
To us, responsibility also means autonomy and the ability to make decisions based on our human and moral values. We have, therefore, made it one of our fundamental principles to be financially independent and retain our freedom. As the operations of our company are based 100 per cent on our own capital and each decision is backed by the Grupp family as the owner with their name and private equity, Trigema® is and will never be subjected to the whims of domestic or foreign investors. We are a company of 1,200 stake holders, who ensure the success of Trigema® with their daily work.

Holistic production
Starting with the delivery of the yarn, our production is not reliant on third parties at any stage of the added-value chain. We knit, dye and finish the fabrics we use at our own facility. We design our own cuts and garment lines, cut them to size and tailor, store, and package them before shipping them to our customers.

This involvement in every stage of the work process results in perfect processing control. We detect issues immediately, talk them over and solve them. Innovation and developments are implemented quickly and effectively. We are able to making every aspect of our manufacturing process transparent to our customers and cordially invite anyone who is interested in visiting our production facilities.

Health, protection and ecological innovation
Environmental protection is something to which we attach great importance. We use only the latest technology and are equipped with state-of-the-art machinery that helps conserve water and energy. In addition, we constantly improve and optimise our production flow, in particular, with regard to the treatment of process and waste water.

Overall, manufacturing our products in line with German regulations makes every Trigema® garment a product that is environmentally safe in contrast to clothing that is made in some foreign countries where only minimal environmental regulations apply. In addition, our way of producing locally helps avoid a considerable amount of Co2 emissions as our production does not require the usual nationwide or international transportation routes.

Apart from our own control mechanisms, we use other independent institutions to subject our entire product range to regular inspections and have them certified in accordance with the “Öko-Tex-Standard 100.”

We are aware that preserving our eco systems and promoting new, sustainable products is one of the most important challenges we face today. This is why we are now launching Trigema Change®, a second eco-friendly line of products that joins our wellness products and our Cradle-to-Cradle® -certified products, and intend to further increase our commitment in this segment.

You as a customer have the opportunity to join forces with us and accelerate this development. Consider choosing an eco-friendly product when purchasing a new garment. Learn more about the conditions in which the product was manufactured. Spend a few Euro more to purchase fair and eco-friendly products and, thereby, invest in innovation and the future. Only if they work together can manufacturers and consumers initiate a change in the way our industry does business. Join us and become a part of this effort!

Structure and numbers
Our company has 1,200 employees including 40 trainees who are employed as fashion seamstresses, production mechanics, product refiners, and industrial sales representatives.

The majority of our employees work at our main plants and are entrusted with knitting, dying, finishing, cutting, tailoring, folding, printing, embroidering, and warehousing as well as working in the development, shipping, sales and administration departments. Our production facilities are complemented by our in-house workshops including our carpenter shop, our electrician’s workshop, the metal workshop and our painter’s workshop. Combined, our facilities have an annual production turnover that is worth over 86 M Euro. Our sales department is grouped into three divisions. The largest portion is made up of our 45 Testgeschäfte trial outlets which contribute 52 per cent per year to our total sales. The remaining 48 per cent are generated by our online sales as well as through the cooperation with our 4,500 customers in commerce and trade.

Our maximum production capacity is 30,000 items per day. Our core product line comprises a variety of 600 products which we constantly keep in stock. In addition to t-shirts, sweatshirts, polo shirts, joggings suits, track suits, terry cloth sweaters, tennis clothing, underwear and sleepwear for women, men and children, we have specialised in manufacturing school and work apparel as well as protective clothing.
